1. Card Hierarchy & Values

  1. Face Cards (K, Q, J) — each worth 10 points.
    • Kings can break sequences but carry high penalty if left unmelded.
  2. Number Cards (2–10) — point = card value.
    • Mid-range cards (5–7) are dual-purpose for sequences in both directions.
  3. Aces — count as 1 point or high card in specific variants.
  4. Jokers — wild, 0 points, but cannot appear in pure sequences.
Pro Tip: Discard high-point face cards quickly unless you’ve secured your pure sequence.

2. Meld Types & Priorities

Pure Sequence

A run of three+ consecutive cards in the same suit without jokers. Mandatory for declaration.

Impure Sequence

Like a pure sequence but allows jokers. Use for flexibility once your pure run is secured.

Set

Three or four cards of identical rank (different suits), jokers allowed.

Strategy: Build your pure sequence first, then alternate between impure runs and sets to maximize synergy.

3. Turn Phases & Timing

  • Draw Phase

Choose from the stockpile or the top discard. Timing your draw can signal opponents—mix it up.

  • Meld Evaluation

Instantly re-evaluate sets and sequences in your hand. Look for newly possible runs after each draw.

  • Discard Phase

Select a card to shed—balance between minimizing your points and not aiding others.

  • Declaration Phase

When conditions met (≥2 sequences, 1 pure), hit “Declare” to end the round and score.

Quick Note: Use the “Reveal” preview before your draw to plan discards in advance.

4. Advanced Tactics

Discard Sequencing

Drop low-value cards early but hold middle cards until the endgame if they can form runs both ways.

Joker Conservation

Use jokers to complete high-point sets, not trivial runs. Each joker saved is a potential game-changer.

Reading Opponents

Track their picks/discards pattern. If they avoid a suit, that suit might complete their pure sequence.

Insider Insight: In pool rummy, conservative play with low-point hands often outlasts aggressive strategies.

How to Play MeldManor: From Shuffle to Showdown

Master the art of rummy in five clear steps. Whether you're a newcomer or sharpening your strategy, follow our guide to dominate every table.

1

Gather and Sort Your Cards

Your journey begins by shuffling two decks (including jokers) thoroughly. Deal each player 13 cards. Lay the leftover cards face down as the stockpile and flip the top card to start the discard pile.

  • Group cards by suit; within suits, sort numerically.
  • Identify jokers and wildcards before the first draw.
  • Keep your pure sequence candidates separate.
Pro Tip: A clean sort saves you critical seconds every turn. Use that time to watch opponents’ discards!
2

Draw & Discard

On your turn, choose one card from the stockpile or pick the top discard. After adding to your hand, discard one card to the discard pile. This draw–discard dance cycles clockwise.

  1. Think ahead: will this draw complete a set?
  2. Avoid discarding cards that feed opponents’ pure sequences.
  3. Jokers are powerful—hold them until they finish a meld.
Quick Note: Tracking the discard pile gives you intel on which suits opponents are collecting.
3

Form Sets & Sequences

Your goal is to create two types of melds:

Pure Sequence

A run of 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit without jokers.

Sets & Impure Sequences

Three or four cards of the same rank (different suits) or runs including jokers.

Strategy: Prioritize pure sequences—they’re mandatory for a valid declaration.
4

Declare & Score

When you have at least two sequences (one pure) and your remaining cards form valid sets, click “Declare.” All players reveal hands and scoring begins.

  • Winner scores 0 points.
  • Others tally leftover card values (face cards = 10; jokers = 0).
  • Lowest score takes the pot.
Reminder: Double-check your pure sequence before declaring—invalid declarations incur penalties.
